A68 resurfacing south of Soutra Mains Quarry: 3-6 August

3 August 2020

Transport Scotland and Amey fully recognise the importance of a safe and reliable trunk road network, particularly during the Covid-19 outbreak, and it is vital that essential maintenance works are carried out in order to maintain the integrity and safety of these routes. A number of maintenance projects have been identified as essential and will be prioritised over the coming weeks.

A68 RESURFACING SOUTH OF SOUTRA MAINS QUARRY: 3-6 AUGUST

The A68 south of Soutra Mains Quarry will be closed in both directions for resurfacing from 20:00 until 06:00 each night from 3 to 6 August.

A diversion route will be signposted between Ravenswood Roundabout north of St Boswells and the A68 north of Fala Village via the A6091, the A7, the B6367 and the B6458.

These essential works, with a value of £176,000, will improve safety and journey time reliability, as well as reduce the need for further disruptive maintenance.

The safety of workers remains a top priority during this essential maintenance project. Physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure all on-site personnel remain safe throughout the duration of the project. Thorough risk assessments will be carried out and cleansing stations will be implemented on site.

Please note that all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. For the current status of all road schemes please visit our website: http://scottishtrunkroadsse.amey.co.uk/current-works/
