Lane closure for A68 bridge repair: 27-31 July

27 July 2020

Transport Scotland and Amey fully recognise the importance of a safe and reliable trunk road network, particularly during the Covid-19 outbreak, and it is vital that essential maintenance works are carried out in order to maintain the integrity and safety of these routes. A number of maintenance projects have been identified as essential and will be prioritised over the coming weeks.

LANE CLOSURE FOR A68 BRIDGE REPAIR: 27-31 JULY

The A68 will be restricted to a single lane near the junction with the B6357, with traffic controlled by three-way temporary traffic lights, from 08:00 on Monday 27 July until 18:00 on Friday 31 July.

This is to allow operating company Amey to repair damage to the masonry parapet where the A68 bridges over Black Burn near Hundalee. These essential works will maintain the safety of road users and prevent further deterioration of the structure.

The safety of workers remains a top priority during this essential maintenance project. Physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure all on-site personnel remain safe throughout the duration of the project. Thorough risk assessments will be carried out and cleansing stations will be implemented on site.

Please note that all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. For the current status of all road schemes please visit our website: http://scottishtrunkroadsse.amey.co.uk/current-works/

This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland and Scottish Borders Council.
