A7 at Ashkirk Junction

10 April 2020

Overnight Patching

Essential road surface patching works will take place on the A7 at Ashkirk Junction between 8pm on Friday 10th April and 6am on Saturday 11th April 2020.

The works will benefit over 5,000 vehicles using this section of the A7 each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

To allow this scheme to take place there will be full overnight closure at this location with a signed diversion route in operation.

Southbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A7 at Ladylands, Selkirk via a left turn onto the A699 and at St. Boswells Crossroads, traffic will turn right to join the A68 southbound. Traffic will proceed on this route and at Cleekimin Junction, will turn right to join the A698. Traffic will continue for 10 miles towards Hawick and will be instructed to turn right onto Mart Street. At North Bridge Roundabout, traffic will be able to rejoin the A7 southbound carriageway and diversion will end.

Northbound traffic will follow the same diversion route but in the opposite direction.

This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, and Scottish Borders Council.
