A720 Hermiston Off-Slip to Gogar (Westbound)
23 March 2020
ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE ON THE WESTBOUND A720 COMMENCES MONDAY 23RD MARCH
Essential overnight maintenance will take place on the A720 westbound carriageway from the Hermiston off-slip road to Gogar on Monday 23rd March until Sunday 29th March 2020.
The works will benefit over 17,000 vehicles using this section of the A720 each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
To allow this scheme to take place there will be full overnight closures, each night between 8pm and 6am, of the A720 westbound carriageway with a signed diversion route in operation. The eastbound carriageway will be unaffected throughout the duration of the works. The scheme is scheduled to be complete by 6am on the morning of Sunday 29th March 2020.
Westbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A720 at Calder Road Roundabout via the second exit. Traffic will proceed on this route, remaining on the right-hand side of the carriageway for approximately one mile and will follow signage for Airport-Edinburgh North. Traffic will then be able to rejoin the A720 westbound carriageway and the diversion will end.
This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, and City of Edinburgh Council.
