A720 Lasswade off slip

4 February 2020

Overnight Maintenance

An innovative Wrong Way Detection system was be installed overnight on the A720 Lasswade off slip road between 8pm on Tuesday 4th February and 6am on Wednesday 5th February 2020.

Road traffic accidents caused by vehicles  entering or travelling the wrong way along slip roads are an increasing cause of concern. Not only is there the risk of a terrible loss of life or injury arising from these accidents, but this type of dangerous driving behaviour is estimated to cost the Scottish economy up to 2.2m a year. This new Wrong Way Detection system is proven to reduce these type of incidents.

This work requires a full closure of the Lasswade off slip road with a signed diversion route in operation.

Vehicles will exit the A720 on the Gilmerton off slip road to the A772 Gilmerton Road. From here, vehicles will be directed to Gilmerton Station road to re-join Lasswade Road.
